About Us

What is Team Tracy ATX?

Team Tracy ATX is composed of multi-time World & US National Champion Ultra Distance Endurance Bike Racer Christie Tracy, & her husband / crew chief / chauffeur / mechanic Jamie Tracy. While Christie physically races the bike, she couldn’t possibly juggle all of the logistics that are inherent in Ultra Racing without the support of Jamie. Hence the “Team” in Team Tracy.  In addition to endurance racing & training, Christie also works full time in Finance. Jamie however, a retired CW04 26 year Disabled Veteran of the Coast Guard, and a Special Agent (ret) is able to drive them from race to race across the country in their Van while Christie works from her “Mobile Office” in the back. In 2021 we became a 501 (c) 3 to support women’s racing and support.

Mission Statement

Christie & Jamie know what an adventure & adrenaline filled, rewarding sport that Ultra Racing is, but this discipline has failed to gain the same amount of mainstream traction as many others. Over the next several years, they hope to increase the popularity of & participation in Ultra Racing by documenting & sharing a behind-the-scenes view of the life of an Ultra Racer – from training to nutrition, highs & lows, smiles & tears, successes & challenges, & all of the messy wonderful madness from the Crew’s perspective on race day. One of the addictive qualities of Ultra Racing is the constant pushing of boundaries – setting little mini-goals, meeting them, & then setting the next set a bit higher . . .looking back a year later & seeing just how far you’ve come as a person & an athlete as a result, & applying that “I can do anything that I put my mind to” attitude to other aspects of one’s life.  They want to give the world a window to see the sense of accomplishment that this sport can provide and a path to follow for successful entry into the sport.

Background

Christie has been racing bikes for 12 years, and has done a little bit of everything. She quickly advanced to a Cat1 on Road, and had aspirations of “going pro”, but realized that, in her late 30s, she was a bit on the mature side for a Pro team to consider a good investment. . . and she really doesn’t like crits anyway! (hehe) She discovered that her diesel engine made her a pretty good Time Trialist, and won her first National TT Championship Title (Master’s W 35-39) in 2017. Shortly thereafter, she was introduced to Ultra Distance Racing, and realized that she’d found her “niche”, but she wasn’t ready to settle down and give up all other disciplines just yet. She won several World and US National Championship Ultra Racing titles, and then discovered Gravel in late 2019. She loved Gravel racing because it shared many of the same characteristics as Ultra Racing, and her engine served her well in this discipline as well, but shortly after signing with Panaracer/Factor for the 2020 Race Season, racing came to a halt with the CoronaVirus Pandemic.

Team USA!

With all “IRL” racing on hold, Christie threw herself into eSports Racing as a way to get her adrenaline/endorphin fix, and maintain fitness within the confines of lockdown. She quickly made a name for herself as one of the top US eSports racers, and was proud to represent the US as a member of Team USA in the inaugural eSports UCI World Championship Race in December, 2020.

Overcoming Adversity

Christie is no stranger to adversity – she’s had to overcome several severe injuries, including a broken hip, that required long periods of recovery and rebuilding. Through this though, she’s proven that she is hardworking and tenacious in the pursuit of a goal, and she will carry this tenacity forward in her efforts to elevate the popularity of Ultra Distance Racing, and continue to nurture, grow, and build the community.

2024 & Beyond

  • Team Tracy ATX has partnered with so many great sponsors for 2023,
  • While at home, participate in local (TX) rides & races, & volunteer my time at events. These smaller events allow for more networking and closer/more involved interactions with those who are fans, followers, or interested in the sport of Ultra Racing.
  • While on the road, participate in various rides throughout the country, and be a good ambassador for my sponsors – share information and answer questions about sponsor products and the sport of Ultra Racing.
  • Provide Sponsors with product input/feedback as needed and/or requested. Assist in the development/testing of new products or improvements to existing products.
  • Attend / Present at Sponsor Events/Expos (in person or virtually)
  • Be available for Podcasts & Interviews. Write articles/race recaps and/or blog posts for Sponsor Websites/Blogs
  • Continue to partner with the WUCA Women’s Initiative – Share events and encourage participation through Social Media. Participate as the keynote Speaker for an “Audience With” Session in July. Continue to be responsive to inquiries about the initiative and Ultra Racing that come in via social DMs and comments.
  • Document and share via Social media behind the scenes / “real” moments in my daily life as I prepare for upcoming Ultra Races – cover aspects of training, nutrition, supplementation, etc. Highlight both positives and negatives, successes and failures.
  • Do my absolute best to WIN the following races, and document/share preparation/ race day / recovery:

24 Hour Open Road WUCA/Guinness World Record Attempt

In 2021, Amanda Coker became the first woman to officially break 500 miles in a 24 Hour World Record Attempt with a blistering 512.5 miles. I’ve had my eye on setting a World Record for a while now, so I plan on breaking the record in 2024. Setting a WUCA Guinness World Record requires TONS of pre-planning, as well as a lot of organization, including having the entire ride supervised and validated by an official.

Gravel Worlds – The Long Voyage

This race crushed my soul last in 2021. . . It wasn’t actually the race itself – it was more that I had been burning it at both ends, hadn’t budgeted enough recovery time, and was beyond burned out weeks before traveling to NE for the race. I had a mechanical early on that forced my withdrawal, and I cried for weeks and weeks over it b/c even though I knew I’d done the right thing for my mental health, it was such a hard pill to swallow. SO – I’m going back to NE with some unfinished business! The women’s field for the Long Voyage is already STACKED with riders like Lael Wilcox, Sarah Cooper, and defending LV Champion Paige Redman so I’m especially excited to get to line up to and accomplish a huge goal alongside of some of my long time sheros!
